As the world relies on Wi-Fi now more than ever, our connections are increasingly tested while valuable spectrum sits unused. The FCC has put forward a win-win solution that would allow Wi-Fi and new vehicle safety systems to coexist. What’s the holdup?
As part of WifiForward’s Wi-Fi at Work webinar series, New America’s Michael Calabrese and Amir Nasr joined us to discuss how the FCC can open up the 5.9 GHz spectrum and remove the roadblock to a Wi-Fi superhighway.

What a win for Wi-Fi!
When the FCC granted WISPs emergency authorization to use the 5.9 GHz band to connect unconnected Americans in the midst of the pandemic, they delivered — big time.
As part of WifiForward’s Wi-Fi at Work webinar series, Donald Dawkins of TCC Networks, Mike Kennedy of Intermax Networks, Louis Peraertz of WISPA and Mark Radabaugh of Amplex Internet discuss how this authorization came to be, how WISPs moved quickly to put additional spectrum to use and what lessons they learned during this 30 minute digital event.

The FCC is poised to unleash brand new spectrum for Wi-Fi. Is this the economic boost we need?
We’re using Wi-Fi now more than ever before. And the good news is that, thanks to two proposals from the FCC, Wi-Fi is about to get more spectrum, which can make our connections even better.
A recent study by Dr. Raul Katz found that opening the 5.9 GHz and 6 GHz bands for unlicensed use could add more than $180B to the U.S. economy.
As part of WifiForward’s Wi-Fi at Work webinar series, Dr. Raul Katz discussed his study and the potential benefits of more spectrum for Wi-Fi and unlicensed use in this 30 minute digital event.
