Think of your local coffee shop. The barista knows you by name and can guess your order before you even say a word. You find your favorite table in the corner, open your laptop, connect to the Wi-Fi and get started on the day’s work. As remote working becomes the new norm in many industries, small business owners are enhancing their customers’ overall experience and ensuring their own continued success by investing in reliable Wi-Fi.

Healthcare has gone digital. From electronic health records to continuous glucose monitors to the smartwatches on your wrist, health information management increasingly requires seamless connectivity—and much of the time, that connectivity is fueled by Wi-Fi. Today, technologies enabled by Wi-Fi are reducing healthcare costs and improving patient outcomes by reliably and securely carrying medical telemetry.

Spring has finally sprung! For many, this means it’s Spring Break — a time where students and adults alike spend a lot of time traveling. USA Today ranks this season as one of the top ten busiest times to travel, with many flying to tropical destinations for some R&R.

It wasn’t long ago that the idea of a watch that did anything more than tell time was a figment of futuristic fantasy. Now technologies once deemed high-end luxuries for only the wealthy are completely common. Yet new advances keep spurring even more ideas to improve tech devices themselves and the networks they rely on to deliver unprecedented connectivity in every aspect of life.
Watch for these tech trends on the rise in the coming year:

Last week, Cisco released its Mobile Visual Networking Index (VNI) report and it predicted huge growth in mobile — growth in users, growth in data traffic, and growth in speed of connections. In particular, Wi-Fi is expected to grow by 2022.
Here are a few key takeaways about how critical Wi-Fi will continue to be:

Washington, D.C. – The RAND Corporation released a new economic analysis that finds opening up the 5.9 GHz frequency band for Wi-Fi could contribute up to $100 billion per year to the U.S. economy, and provide up to an additional $190 billion in economic surplus. Importantly, RAND lead author Diana Carew also unveiled a new model for assessing the potential value of unlicensed spectrum, meeting a need identified by Congress and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
