WifiForward, a national coalition of consumer and public interest groups, internet service providers, semiconductor chip makers, wireless broadband equipment manufacturers, and content providers, released the following statement on President Trump’s appointment of Commissioner Ajit Pai as the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC):

As a member of the Commission, Chairman Pai has worked to advance balanced spectrum policies that ensure robust access to unlicensed spectrum. Unlicensed spectrum is the fuel for the Wi-Fi economy, delivering broadband connectivity to businesses and consumers in communities across the country and generating annual economic value of $222 billion. We are encouraged by Mr. Pai’s deep knowledge of these important issues and look forward to working with him to expand Wi-Fi access for all Americans.”
